Enjoy A Complete Smile Again With A Dental Bridge
What happens when you lose a tooth?
Many of us, during our adult lives, will lose a tooth to injury, decay, or gum disease. When that happens, chewing forces can shift front to back and side to side. This can cause teeth to move, shift, even flare out, causing unwanted spaces. It can be a domino effect that can seriously alter the look of your smile, jawline, and face. When teeth are not replaced, wrinkles and lines can also form, causing premature aging. You’ll also lose bone structure in your jaw, which is why face changes may occur. It is for all these reasons that bridge treatment is one option we recommend when teeth are lost.
How can a dental bridge help?
Restore proper chewing ability, and redistributing chewing force more comfortably
Prevent uneven chewing
Returns the appearance of a smile and maintains the face’s shape
Restore speech and annunciation
Keep teeth from shifting and moving into the gap.
A physical assessment including x-rays and a digital scan will clarify your condition and whether you are a candidate for a dental bridge.
Dr. Chang will then recommend a plan which can in many cases be completed that same day.
The next step will involve preparing the adjacent teeth, which involves shaping the teeth so that the crowns will fit perfectly onto the teeth adjacent to the gap. (In extensive cases, a temporary bridge will be installed while you are waiting for us to custom-fabricate your permanent bridge in our lab.)
Dr. Chang and his team will then design a crown based on the digital scan taken earlier and mill it that very same day!
The final restoration will then be placed in your mouth and the work will be permanent and complete!
